A Look at Denver’s Oldest Brewpub

So there was this guy who opened the first brewpub in Denver, in this rundown industrial neighborhood called LoDo.   And now the President wants this guy, John Hickenlooper, to be the Governor of Colorado.  How does this happen?

The easiest way to answer this question is to ask:  have you ever been around this guy?  Affable, generous, smart.  A guy you’d want to sit down and have a beer with, and many have.  A geologist by training, he’s a posterboy for all those who find their calling by a more circuitous route.

Founded in 1988 the Wynkoop Brewery was the brewpub that sparked a movement to renovate the once grand, then dilapidated warehouse section of Denver.   The renaissance is now complete, with a revitalized urban scene of loft apartments, art galleries, restaurants, a baseball stadium, and yes, more brewpubs.  It’s widely considered one of the best examples of urban renewal in the country.

If you have the opportunity to stop by the Wynkoop and don’t have a good time, it’s your own fault.  Quality beers for everyone, and a wonderful social environment.

Check out this trailer of our look under the hood at the brewery.
