One should not drink on an empty stomach– if you’ve ever done so, you know what I mean. Today craft beer is becoming the darling of top chefs and local foodies for the unique variety of taste profiles that lend themselves to meals as varied as duck-fat french fries and chili dogs to roasted wild boar.
So here we intend to provide some guidance to beers with your chosen meals:
Let’s be honest. We are just regular guys who like to eat. It isn’t everyday we’re prepping gourmet meals or taking our SO’s (significant others) out to fine dining. You’re as likely to find us dipping chicken wings and watching baseball at the local brewhouse or grilling in the backyard as we are to be cutting into a fine cut of beef at the steakhouse. In each case, a great beer is critical to the overall enjoyment. Then there are those times when out of lack of planning, pure laziness, or grinding hunger, that we find ourselves prowling main street for a quick fix. For those times when your service happens through an open window, we offer the following suggestions.
Let’s face it– if you’re craving sliders, you’ve probably already been drinking. However, should you find yourself with a sack, we suggest a nice IPA to cut all the greasy deliciousness. Make sure to pace out your beer consumption with burger counts. Something on the order of a 5:1 burger to beer ratio we find pleasing. Further experiments to follow. . .
